Caption title: Sheppard family : Hibbs--Clark--Green--Gatchell--Hudson.
John Sheppard was born in the early 1700s in Maryland, the son of John Sheppard. He moved to Frederick County, Maryland before 1737. His son, John Sheppard (1737-1827), and his wife, Mary Ann Hudson, had twelve children. He died in Belmont County, Ohio. Record lists children and some granchildren of each generation but children traces line of descent to John Findly Sheppard (1829-1899). He married Ruthe B. Hibbs in 1854 in Belmont County, Ohio. They had seven children, 1856-1870. He died at Akeny, Polk County, Iowa.
