Daniel Kennedy was a descendant of Daniel Kennedy who was part of the Scottish Jacobite uprising and sentenced by the English government to banishment in America in 1716. Daniel Kennedy (1750-1802) was born in Frederick County, Virginia. In 1774 he married Margaret Hughes. Daniel fought in the American Revolution and later represented Washington County (now Tennessee) in the North Carolina House of Commons. He was one of the founders of Greene County, North Carolina (now Tennessee) and was the first clerk of the county court. He and Margaret were the parents of eleven children. Descendants live in Tennessee and other parts of the United States.
