Some immigrated to Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and other New England and Mid-Atlantic states in the 1600s. In 1642, they immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts. In the 1700s, some Coffins settled in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island (Canada), and in Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and South Carolina. During the 1800s, some moved to Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. Later descendants also lived in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and elsewhere. Some were Quakers.
