John Hoffman (Huffman) was born in 1692 in Siegen, Nassau-Siegen, Germany to Johannes and Gertrud Hoffman. He came to Germanna, Orange County (town no longer exists), Virginia, in 1714 where he married Anna Catherine Haeger in 1721. She died in 1729 and he married Maria Sabina Folg that same year. He moved from Orange County to Germantown in Fauquier County (town no longer exists) and then to Madison County near the Hebron Church. His will was probated in 1772 in Culpeper County, Virginia. The family settled mainly in Madison County.
