How do I copy a source from Family Tree into my source box?

If you find a source that you want to use repeatedly, you can copy it to your source box. After you copy the source, you can change the title or citation, and add it to your Source box.

You cannot change the title, URL, or citation of the original FamilySearch source.

Steps (website)

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.org.
  2. Navigate to the Person page of the individual with sources that you want to copy.
  3. Click the Sources tab.
  4. Click the source that you want to copy.
  5. Click View.
    1. To change the source, click Edit.
    2. You can edit the date, title, notes, and reasons to change source fields.
    3. Click Save.
    4. If you make changes, the system adds the words “Copy of” to the title.
  6. Click Copy to source box.

Steps (mobile app)

The Family Tree and Memories mobile apps lack the source box feature.
