If a source is attached to the wrong person in Family Tree, you can detach it.
Steps (website)
- In Family Tree on the FamilySearch.org website, display the Person details page of the person who has the source.
- Near the top of the page, click Sources.
- Below the source title, click View Source.
- Click Detach.
- Verify the information in the pop-up window, and add a reason statement.
- To confirm, click Detach.
Steps (mobile app)
In the Family Tree mobile app, you can detach a source.
- Navigate to the person page.
- Tap Sources.
- Tap the source you want to detach.
- Tap Review Attachments. (On Android, in the "compare and match" list, click the name of the person.)
- Scroll to the bottom, and tap Detach.
- Enter the reason statement.
- To confirm, click Detach.
Steps (Family Tree Lite)
Family Tree Lite does not display sources. Please use the full Family Tree on the FamilySearch.org website instead.
