FamilySearch Labs

FamilySearch uses its Labs site to make new and experimental features available to site users. It is part of the research and development process. Some of what is shared here will make it to the regular site. Some of it won't. Regardless, your feedback plays a big role in determining the future of each experiment.

Technology doesn't stand still. Many of the changes made to FamilySearch are to keep up with changing technology standards and requirements. Other changes are made to improve or add functionality. None of the changes are made without research and testing. This FamilySearch Labs site is part of that testing. The FamilySearch Community is another great place to share feedback and propose ideas for new features.

To enable an experiment select Try it. That will open the instructions page or immediately enable the experiment. If you decide you don't want to use the experimental features anymore, simply select Turn Off on that experiment's card on the Available Experiments page.

The short answer is... it's very likely. The purpose of Labs is to provide a place where features can be tested by real users with real data. We want to see how well things work and to provide users with the ability to influence the direction with their feedback. If the testing shows that the feature is not ready, it won't become a regular feature on the site at that time.

The people behind these experimental features are anxious to hear your feedback. They will review all comments and consider them as they find ways to improve the feature.
