FamilySearch Library Construction News

While we aim to remain open, there may be times when temporary closures are necessary for part or all of the library. If a closure is required, we will provide as much notice as possible, though in some cases this may be only one to two weeks in advance.

The following closures have been announced:

• Starting March 16th the Main floor will not be accessible except for the elevators, restrooms, and break room. All services will be moved to other floors.

• A limited Discovery experience will be located on the 2nd floor starting March 16th for approximately a year. You can get Tree help on any floor. For more details please check the Discovery page.

•   Indoor Construction:
  
  •  Construction Noise levels will be ongoing. The Main Floor, B1 Floor, and 2nd Floor will be most affected.
  • The B2 Floor and the 3^rd Floor are expected to remain quieter and better suited for study and research.
•   External Demolition:
  
  • The Plaza Hotel next door will be demolished, which may add periods of increased outdoor noise throughout the day. Click here for other hotel options.

• Limited Street Parking: Due to construction activity fewer spaces will be available during different phases of construction.
• Alternative Parking: Visitors are encouraged to use the Conference Center parking lot, located nearby, to reduce congestion. Parking validation may be obtained at the Guest Services Window on the main floor of the library.
• Accessibility: Entrances will remain open, but access routes such as road or sidewalks around the library may change as work progresses.

• Construction will take place from October 2025 thru February 2027 and will mainly happen on the Main Floor, B1 Floor, and 2nd Floor, as well as around the building exterior.
• Work will be phased, meaning different areas may be impacted at different times.
• Visitors should expect varying noise levels and temporary inconveniences until the project is complete.
