Louisiana, Eastern District Naturalization Petitions, 1838-1861


Naturalization petitions filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, which was located in New Orleans. The set includes papers filed in naturalization proceedings including petitions for naturalization and oaths of the petitioner and two witnesses. Occasionally declarations of intention filed in other courts are included. The information given for each petition includes the name and residence of the petitioner, country of birth, city and date of arrival, and the names of two witnesses.
