William Hugh Campbell was born in 1813 in Caroline County, Virginia, the son of Elliott Peatross and Elizabeth Willson Campbell. He served in the army in the Arkansas Territory. He married Julia Rutherford, the daughter of Capt. John and Winnie Rutherford. William and Julia moved to Washington County, Arkansas. Their children included John, James, William, Joseph, Winnie, Julia, Thomas, Mary , Noel and Richard. William died during the Civil War. Descendants and relatives lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, California, Arkansas, Missouri, Hawaii and elsewhere.
