Notes

Warner was number 1 in the line of towns from the Merrimack to the Connecticut river, and was granted by Massachusetts, January 16, 1735/6, to Thomas Stevens and others, many of whom were from Amesbury, Massachusetts. The town was called New Amesbury. It was granted by the Masonian Proprietors, March 14, 1749/50, to Richard Jenness and others, inhabitants of Rye, and called Jenness-town and Rye-town. It was regranted December 24, 1767, to Jonathan Barnard and others. Warner was incorporated September 3, 1774, and named in honor of Col. Jonathan Warner of Portsmouth. Kearsarge Gore was annexed June 13, 1818. For a copy of the Gore records, see volume 2, this series.

Volume 1 contains proprietors records 1737 and 1763 and vital statistics; volume 2 contains book labeled "1770 to 1816" and records of Kearsarge Gore "1794 to 1819"; volume 3 contains town records, school district book, inventories, and vital statistics.
