Notes

Previously published, Cincinnati, 1868, under title: History of the First Kentucky brigade.

Includes index.

The designation of the brigade as First Kentucky is unofficial. It was organized in 1861, later divided into two brigades, which were afterwards reunited. Probably more often known by name of its successive commanders.

Besides general history of the organization, the work contains sketches, with roster and biographies, of the following: 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 9th infantry regiments, and Byrne's and Cobb's batteries of artillery. In addition to the above, the command included at one time or another these Kentucky organizations: 3rd and 7th infantry, 1st cavalry, Morgan's squadron of cavalry, and Graves' and Hudson's batteries, also 31st and 35th regiments and 4th battalion, Alabama infantry, 31st Mississippi infantry, and Crews battalion Tennessee infantry.

Includes music.

Includes a description of Kentucky First Brigade activities in the following locations: Fort Donelson, Tenn; Shiloh, Tenn; Vicksburg, Miss; Baton Rouge, La; Hartsville, Tenn; Murfreesboro, Tenn; Jackson, Miss; Chickamauga, Ga; Missionary Ridge, Tenn; and Atlanta, Ga.
