Chiefly a record of some of the descendants of Johann Heinrich Clauser. He was born 12 Dec 1721 in Ottersheim, Germany, to Hans Jakob Clauser and Anna Barbara Bär. He emigrated to America in 1750 and settled in Pennsylvania for a time. He married Anna Maria 20 Mar 1753 in Pennsylvania. He later settled in Virginia. He was the father of four daughters and three sons. He died 1 Jun 1764 in Clowser Gap, Virginia. She died May 1772 in Frederick County, Virginia. Descendants lived mainly in Virginia.

Surname spelled Clauser and Clowser.

Includes Berry, Gumm, Martin, McClung, McCoy, Spinks, and related families.
