This volume expands and updates Winstead Family in America by Michael Kalen Smith.

John Winston was born before 1555 and married Johane Skerrels in Yapton, England in 1571. His great grandson Samuel Winstead (Winston) (ca. 1671-1726), was born in Lancaster County, Virginia and died in Northumberland County, Virginia. Samuel's son, Samuel (1701-ca.1774), was born in Northumberland County.

Francis Winstead was born in 1758 in Northumberland County, Virginia, to Samuel Winstead, Jr. Francis married ca. 1774 to Catherine and they had 5 children. Francis died in 1842 in Tennessee. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Kansas, and elsewhere.

Includes related families of Amyx, Burton, Campbell, Cobb, Cope, Davis, Drinnon, Ferrell, Fisher, Goins, Green, Hurd, Johns, Jones, Lawson, Lovin, Massengill, Moore, Murrell, Parker, Pinkston, Rogers, Smith, Stubblefield, Trent, Watson, Wilson, and others.
