Notes
Although there is speculation that the Rhea's may descend from Archibald Campbell, Ninth Earl of Argyl (Scotland), the earliest probable Rhea may be Archibald Rhea whose sons, Robert, Archibald and William, emigrated together and settled in Augusta County, Virginia in the mid-1700's. The brothers served together in the Augusta County Militia in 1758. By 1813, their descendants settled in Preble County, Ohio. Includes Rhea, Van Natta, Alvord, Arms, Coolidge, Hazelton, Jones, Rice, Smith, Warren, Whitney and related lines.
Also available on microfilm.
Each surname is a chapter. The Rhea and Van Natta lines are listed first, and the remaining lines are alphabetically thereafter.
Index in separate volume: Every-name index to Rhea and Van Natta families and their ancestors.
