Notes

Seth Manis (1762-1853), a Revolutionary War soldier, was born in Bedford County, Virginia. He was living in Moore County, North Carolina, when he joined the army. He and his wife, Susan "Patsy" Fields (1763-1853) had eight children, ca. 1782-between 1800-1810. Seth and Patsy Manis died in Hawkins County, Tennessee. Their oldest child, Jacob Wilson Maners (1762-ca. 1782), was born in Moore County, North Carolina. He married three times and was the father of sixteen children born in Tennessee, Indiana, and Missouri. He died in Ozark County, Missouri. His son, James Lust Maners (1812-1902) was born in Blunt County, Tennessee. He and his wife, Susannah Laymon (1817-1913), had twelve children, 1837-1862, born in Indiana. James and Susannah Maners died in Owen County, Indiana.
