Chiefly ancestral families of the author, Eloise Joyce McBroom Truce. She was born in 1916 at Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Fred Milton McBroom (1889-1977) and Virtie Ruth Pitman McBroom (1895-1943). She married William Everett Truce (b. 1917) in 1940 at Chicago. They had two children, 1945-1949, born at Chicago and Lafayette, Indiana. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Minnesota and elsewhere.

Ancestors include: Henry McBroom (between 1755 & 1760-1824) of Ireland, Virginia, Tennessee, and Indiana -- William Pitman (1785-1837) of Indiana -- Enoch Fenton (between 1745 & 1750-1805) of Frederick County, Virginia -- Robert Ellis (between 1750 & 1753-ca. 1803) of Virginia -- Samuel Endsworth [Ainsworth] (between 1710 & 1716-1777) of England and Lancaster County, Pennsylvania -- Cornelius Campbell (ca. 1720-1756) of Scotland and South Carolina -- William English (between 1755 & 1759-1843) of Kentucky and Indiana -- John Moore (m. 1773) of Guilford County, North Carolina.
