The Cumberland Presbyterian Church was organized in Denton, Texas, in 1862. In May 1906 a denominational merger occurred between the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Church USA. Most of the members of the Denton church switched to the Presbyterian Church USA. The Cumberland Presbyterian Church diminished until in 1932 it was reorganized with a few members. It continues to be active up to the present (1995).
