George Bowman (1700-1766) was born in Germany and married Maria Elizabeth Hite in 1731 at Berks County, Pennsylvania. They migrated to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia ca. shortly thereafter. Both died in Frederick County, Virginia. Descendants lived in Virginia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Washington, Texas, and elsewhere.

Includes Stephens, Brinker, Ruddell, Mulherin, Barton, Griffith, Riggs, Bourn, Deyerle, Harmon and related families.
