James Thomas Morris (1872-1953) was born at Brenham, Washington County, Texas, the son of James and Frances Louise Norris. He married Helen Swan Bowie (1884-1958) in 1918 in Washington, D.C. He died in Hillsborough County, Florida. His father, Dr. James Thomas Norris (1829-1883), was born in Princess Anne County, Virginia, the son of William Norris (1804-1859) and Ann Cary Bishop Norris (1810-1859). His family migrated to Washington County, Texas, ca. 1841. He marriel Frances Louise Early (1842-1915) in 1863. She was born in Washington County, the daughter of Francis Smith Early (ca. 1810-1846) and Cathryn L. Parham Early (ca. 1824-1889). They had ten children, 1864-1884. Dr. James Norris died at Brenham. Frances Louise Early Norris died in Prince George County, Maryland.
Ancestors include: Thomas Norris (d. 1741?) of Princess Ann County, Virginia -- George Norris (d. 1766) of Duplin County, North Carolina -- John Early (fl. 1661) of England and York County, Virginia -- Isaac Hill (d. 1749) of Virginia -- William Hill (d. 1799) of Middlesex and Brunswick Counties, Virginia -- Nicholas Smith (fl. 1710) of England and Essex County, Virginia -- Daniel Love (d. ca. 1753) of Duplin County, North Carolina. Other relatives and ancestors lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Alabama and elsewhere.
