Richard Parker I (1630-1677), the emigrant, was born in Trangoe, Warleggan, Cornwall, England. He lived there until he immigrated to the Colony of Virginia, arriving in Nansemond Co., in 1647. He married Elizabeth Bailey of London, England in Nansemond Co., Va. in 1649. She was the daughter of Capt. Richard Bailey of London, England and Accomac Co., Virginia. Elizabeth died and he married (2) in Henrico Co., Va., Mrs. Judith Burton Hunt of the Isle of Wight Co., Va. in 1668. She was the widow of William Hunt (d. 1667). Descendants live mainly in North Carolina.

Includes Basinger, Brady, Earnhardt, Miller, Reed and allied families.
