Joshua Thomas White (1890-1950) was born in the Bagleys Swamp area of Perquimans County, North Carolina, the son of Timothy White (1842- 1903) and Sarah Alice Boyce White (1866-1948). After his father's death, his family moved to the Durant's Neck section of the county, and then to Elizabeth City, North Carolina. There he married Allie Belle Lane (1888-1948) in 1913. She was born in Perquimans County, North Carolina, a daughter of Jabez Lane (1837-1907) and Mary Jane Chappell Lane (1849-1921). They had three daughters, 1914-1922, born at Winfall, North Carolina, where the family lived. Tom White died at Winfall, North Carolina; and Allie White died at Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Descendants include the Stanton and Willey families who live in North Carolina, Virginia, and elsewhere.
Ancestors include: John White (ca. 1671-ca. 1718) of Isle of Wight County, Virginia -- John Boyce (ca. 1704-ca. 1749) of Nansemond County, Virginia, and Perquimans County, North Carolina -- Joseph Lane (ca. 1780-before 1819) of Perquimans County, North Carolina -- Robert Chappell (b. ca. 1700) of Perquimans County, North Carolina.
