Notes

Microfilm of original records at the Braxton County courthouse.

The general indexes are arranged by the date of the instrument after surname. This means you may have to search for your name. There is a surname index in the front of each volume which in many cases will tell you the section of your name. Corporations are found at the end of the volumes, and if there is more than one alpa character in the volume they are found before all of the corporation entries.

Volume 8 has many entries out of date order because the deeds were loose and mixed up in the binding.

Includes general indexes and indexes to individual volumes.

Releases are recorded for at least some of the mortgages with the original recording.

Volumes 35-37, 42-43 and 47 are oil and mineral leases involving Southern Penn Oil Company. Volumes 44 and 48 also contain oil and mineral leases but not all are with Southern Penn Oil Company.
