William Toney Sr. (ca. 1727-1810) was born in Buckingham County, Virginia and later died in Franklin County, Virginia. His third wife was Margaret Sutherland (ca. 1731-ca. 1812). Descendants lived in throughout the southern United States, Ohio, Oregon, Kansas, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Indiana, and elsewhere.

Includes Clayton, Bagby, Bates, Cooper, Jarrell, Thompson, Lybrook, Pettry, and related families.
