John Fox (1794-1839), a native of Virginia, and Barbara Huff (1789- 1859), daughter of Francis and Sarah Huff of Staunton, Virginia, were married at Staunton in 1819. They had nine children, 1820-1836. The family was living at Greenbrier, West Virginia, in 1820 and moved to Augusta County, Virginia, ca. 1829. He died near Churchville, Augusta County. Descendants listed, especially descendants of his son, David Jackson Fox (1820-1900), lived in Virginia and elsewhere.

Includes the Huff, Taylor, Aylor, Rickett, Pring, Morris, Sorrells, and other allied families.
