Originally known as Danville Female College, the name was changed in 1883 to Danville College for Young Ladies. In 1887 the college became part of the Randolph-Macon school system and was referred to as R.M.I. In 1930 it was purchased from the Randolph-Macon system and the name changed to Stratford College.

Each annual catalogue contains lists of directors, faculty, and students; information about course studies; rules and regulations; annual calendar of events; and sometimes other information.
