William Ball (1740/1-1807) was born in Middlesex County, Virginia. He and his wife, Hannah Smith (d. 1825), daughter of Joseph and Kitty Anderson Smith, had eleven children, before 1765-1790. He was living at Great Run in Fauquier County, Virginia, at the time of his death. Descendants listed lived in Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa, West Virginia, California, Oklahomha and elsewhere.

Includes Ball, Creel, Moffett, Richardson, Tackett, Bailey, Barnes, Dunn, Freeman, Griffith, Hinson, Hughlett, Luceford, Neavil, Smith, Wilson and related families.
