The author has two Cox/Coxe immigrant ancestors. 1) John Cox (1694-1747) immigrated to Pennsylvania ca. 1720. He was the youngest son of Sir Richard Cox (1650-1733) of Ireland and a descendant of Dr. Richard Cox (1500-1581), Bishop of Ely. 2) William Coxe (ca. 1584-1656) immigrated to Virginia in 1610. He was a member of the House of Burgesses for Henrico County in 1646. He and his wife, Elizabeth Hutchins, had three children. Their daughter, Mary Coxe, married John Burton (ca. 1625-1690). Record traces line of descent to Prudence Reeves (1785-after 1850), daughter of George Reeves and Jane Burton Reeves (ca. 1754-after 1811). Prudence Reeves married Andrew Cox (1780-after 1850), ca. 1807. Andrew Cox was the son of David Cox and a descendant of John Cox (1694-1747).
