Robert Coleman was born before 1622 in England and came to America in 1638. He settled at Mobjack Bay in Gloucester County, Virginia. He married Elizabeth Grizzell. He died after May 1682. His descendants have lived in Virginia, Kentucky, Washington, Texas, and elsewhere.
