Death certificates were originally filed with the clerk of the District Court. Then they were filed with the local registrar but now are under the jurisdiction of the county recorder.
Gives death date, name of deceased, sex, color or race, marital status, age, birthplace, cause of death, occupation, parents' names and their birthplaces, and when registered. Later records add birth date, place of death, last residence, name and address of undertaker, duration of cause of death, name of attending physician, and name of registrar.
