Chiefly ancestral families and relatives of the author's great grandmother, Louretta Fulton Gooch. Sarah Louretta Susan Fulton (1862-1952) was born at Crystle Springs, Ellis County, Texas, the daughter of Wilson Fulton (1819-1875) and Mary Ann Davis Fulton (1819-1913). Her family moved to Coryell County, Texas, after the Civil War. After her father's death, her mother moved the family to Lampass, Texas, where her eldest children had settled. At Lampass, she met and married William Daniel Gooch, a native of Granville County, North Carolina, in 1879. They had five children, 1879-1887. The family moved to Colorado City, Mitchell County, Texas, in the late 1880s. William was serving as a U.S. Marshall in 1893 when he was shot and killed. Louretta married 2) James G. Stockton. They settled at Big Springs, Howard County, Texas. She is buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Big Springs.
Ancestors include: Alexander Fulton (ca. 1695-1762) of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; and Cecil County, Maryland -- William Davis (ca. 1731-ca. 1792) of Stokes County, North Carolina -- Capt. Charles McAnnally (1731-1810) of Scotland; Pennsylvania; Augusta County, Virginia; and Stokes County, North Carolina -- Abraham Redman (ca. 1749-1835) of Lousia County, Virginia; and Stokes County, North Carolina.
