James Lynn, Sr. (ca. 1715-1797) was living in Johnston County, North Carolina, by 1761. The area where he lived later became Wake County. He was the father of at least five children. He died in Wake County. Descendants listed lived in North Carolina, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and elsewhere. .
Includes other ancestors, with some of their descendants, of James Lynn's descendant, Claude Christopher Lynn (1895-1971) and his wife, Della Artelia Hutchins Lynn (1898-1992) of Durham County, North Carolina. Ancestors include: William Barbee (d. 1721) of Middlesex County, Virginia -- John Mayton (d. 1761) of Amelia County, Virginia -- Thomas Hutchins (d. ca. 1732) of Baltimore County, Maryland -- Ezechias Rhodes (fl. 1682-1705) of Middlesex County, Virginia -- William Herndon (ca. 1649-ca. 1722) of Kent County, England; and New Kent County, Virginia -- Thomas Blake (d. ca. 1708) of Wight County, Virginia -- John Vickers (fl. 1776-1785) of Augusta County, Virginia and Orange County, North Carolina -- James Tice (fl. 1673) of Virginia -- Robert Patterson (d. 1721) of Virginia and North Carolina.
