Notes

Duncan Campbell (1660-1726), of Scottish ancestry, was born and lived on a farm called Drumaboden, at Rathmelton, Donegal County, Ireland. His son, Robert Campbell (1677-1768), and his wife, Magaret, had four children. The family immigrated to America ca. 1726. He died at his home in Augusta County, Virginia. His grandson, James Wilson Campbell (1776-1850), was born in Augusta County, Virginia, the son of William Campbell, a Revolutionary War soldier, and Elizabeth Wilson Campbell. He migrated to Kentucky with family in 1790 and married Mary Duncan (1780-1863) in 1801 at Flemingsburg, Mason County, Kentucky. They had seven children, 1802-1814. The family migrated to Ohio in 1824 and purchased a farm on Hilman Ridge Road, Georgetown, Ohio. He died there. Descendants listed, especially some descendants of his son, Washington Greenleaf Campbell (1806-1868) lived in Ohio, Illinois, and elsewhere.
