John Carpenter was born in Germany ca. 1700 and came to Virginia in 1721 with his brother William Carpenter. The family name was also known as Zimmermann. John married Anna Barbara Kerker ca. 1721-1725. He died in 1782 in Culpeper County. The family settled in Culpeper and Madison counties, Virginia.

Thomas Wayland (also spelled Wieland) was born in Germany ca. 1690-1695 and came to Virginia with his family ca. 1725. He died ca. 1748. The family settled in Culpeper and Madison counties, Virginia.
