James Holley/Hawley (ca. 1612-ca. 1678), his wife, Ann, and three children were transported to Virginia, ca. 1640, by Peter Knight. He was granted 300 acres of land in the Norfolk-Hampton, Virginia, area in 1641. James and Ann Holley had at least three other children born in Virginia. He died in Westmorland County, Virginia. Record chiefly follows line of descent to John Holley (1785-1861). He was born at Orangeburgh or Edgefield, South Carolina, the son of James Holley (1760-1829). He married Rosannah Waters ca. 1807. They had nine children, 1808-ca. 1826. He died in Edgefield District, South Carolina. Descendants listed lived in South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, and elsewhere.

Includes the Derrick, Langford, Price, Shealy, and other related families.

Philemon Waters (ca. 1680-1753) was transported from England to Virginia ca. 1701 or before. He married twice and was the father of at least three, probably six, children. He died in Prince William County, Virginia. His son, Philemon Waters (1711-1779), married Sarah Bordroyne, ca. 1730. They had seven children, 1734?-ca. 1742. He probably died in Prince William County, Virginia. Descendants listed lived in Virginia, South Carolina, Mississippi, and elsewhere.
