Nicholas Beery was born in 1707 in Switzerland. He immigrated to America in 1727 and settled in Pennsylvania. He migrated to the Shenandoah Valley, near Harrisburg, Rockingham County, Virginia, ca. 1780. He was the father of at least two sons. His son, Nicholas Beery (1739-1811) was born in Pennsylvania. He and his first wife, Elizabeth Keller, had twelve children, 1765-1788. He married 2) Mrs Mary Gross in 1789 in Virginia. They had four children, 1790- 1796, born in Virginia. He died near Bremen, Ohio. His son, John Berry (1765-1850), married Margaret Shafer (1765-1845) in 1786. They had nine children, 1789-1806. He died in Fairfield County, Ohio. Children lived in Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, and Virginia.
