In mid-December 1940, the clerk of the court began numbering divorce cases in a separate series. Prior to that time, the divorce case files may have been filed in with the rest of the cases for the District Court. This would account for the numbering gaps in the earlier files. Also, packets containing confidential information were not filmed.
