The immigrant ancestor of this family was John or Thomas Williams born in England and died in 1822. His oldest son, Lewis Haney Williams (1806-1871), was born in Virginia. He married 1827 in Scott Co., Va. Susan Peters (1802-1885), daughter of Jacob Peters II and Catherine Hacker. Jacob Peters, the immigrant ancestor of this Peters family, is believed to have come to Philadelphia, Pa. abt. 1741 from Germany. He first settled in Augusta (now Rockingham Co., Va.) prior to 1750. He later lived in Russell Co., and Scott Co., Va. Family members live in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kentucky and elsewhere. Contains mostly handwritten family group records.
