"Bible presented to Farley Rippon Sweat and inscribed as follows on the front: 'Presented to Rev. F. R. Sweat, by the churh, Dawfuske Island.'".
Farley Rippon Sweat was born in 1805, the son of Rev. James Sweat. Charlotte Mary Lendegreen was born 1810 at Beaufort, South Carolina, the daughter of Carle? T. Lenedegreen and adopted daughter of John Norton. They were married in 1829. They had eight children, 1831- 1848.
Includes a page found in a Bible with Norton and Sweat family records, 1777-1841. John Norton was born in 1777 on St. Helena Island, the son of William and Mary Norton. He married Rebeckah Sophia Stall in 1800. The had a son and a daughter, 1801-1802. The daughter died as an infant, the son at age fifteen. They adopted two daughters of Charles and Catherine Ann Lundergreen, born 1808-1810, in 1814 and 1817. Mary Charlotte, adopted children and John and Rebeckah Norton, married Farley R. Sweat in 1829.
