Microfilm of original records at the King William County Courthouse in King William, Virginia. Photostat copies (made in 1929-1930) are at the Virginia State Library in Richmond, Virginia.

The books were restored in the 1960's so pages may not be in the same order as the photostat copies. Most documents were badly damaged.

The clerk's office for King William County was burned in 1885 and most of the records were destroyed. Those records which were saved were bound together into seventeen volumes without any regard to date or subject matter. Some effort was made later to rearrange the original pages to match the arrangement of the photostat copies.

These loose fragments contain a few wills, inventories, bonds, and other court records, but contain mainly deeds, trust deeds, powers of attorney for the sale of property, estate sales of property, leases, mortgages, surveys, etc.
