William Newbery (1846-1912), son of William Newberry, was born in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio. He married Leah Ellen Stanley and later died at Bone Gap, Edwards County, Illinois. William Wood (1624-1685) immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1683 from Nottingham, England. John Stanley was born in 1572 in Ashford, Kent, England and married Susan Lancocke in 1590. Several descendants immigrated to America. Jasper Gunn (ca. 1606-1671) was born in Scotland and immigrated to Massachusetts in 1635, later moving to Milford, Connecticut. John Barnhisle was born ca. 1715, probably in Germany and lived for a time, in Augusta County, Virginia. His son, William Hisle, was born in 1772 in Culpepper County, Virginia and married Jane Willis. They later moved to Kentucky in 1797.
