Jonas Uland (1791-ca. 1829), a soldier in the War of 1812, was born in Halifax County, Virginia, the son of Thomas Uland, a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He married Elizabeth S. Bingham (1795-1846) daughter of Edmond and Lucy Bays in 1813 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. They had seven children, 1815-1828. The family migrated to Indiana ca. 1829 with her parents. He died at Poplar Camp, Tennessee, on the journey. His family continued to Indiana. Elizabeth Uland had a daughter born in 1834. She married 2) James Buffalo in 1836. They had two children, 1837-1839. Descendants lived in Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Montana and elsewhere.

Includes the Anderson, Bays, Bingham, Frye, Stewart and other allied families.
