William Fullwood was born in 1735 in South Carolina, probably the son of William and Sarah Fullwood. He and his wife, Sarah (1740- ca. 1815), had seven children, 1764-1778, probably in Sumter District, South Carolina. He served as a captain and later a major in the Revolutionary War. He died ca. 1794. Descendants listed, chiefly ancestral families of the author, lived in South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, and elsewhere.
