Samuel Bentley, Sr. and his wife, ______ Northern, had four children. The family lived in Halifax County, Virginia. Their son, Samuel Bentley, Jr., was born in 1772 in Holifax County. He married Nancy LeGrand (1780-1864) in 1795. They had six children, ca. 1796-1817. The family migrated to Georgia and later Alabama. His brother, John Bentley (1778-before 1840), married Elizabeth Slack (1781-1857) in 1803 in Wilkes County, Georgia. They had six children. Their son, Hiram Bently (1806-1857), married Levicie Bentley (b. 1812), daughter of Samuel and Nancy LeGrand Bentley. They had ten children. The family migrated to Alabama in 1840. He died at Coosa County, Alabama.
