James Boyle (Bole) was born ca. 1722 in Killinchy Parish, County Down, Ireland, probably to William Bole. He married ca. 1747 in Ireland. He and his family immigrated to America before 13 Aug 1772. He was the father of five sons. He died after Mar 1797 and before Sep 1799. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Arkansas, and elsewhere. .
