Material in chronological order.

James Morgan was a captain of the Quincy Riflemen and was later a Brevet Maj. General during the Civil War. Included are payrolls and rolls of the Quincy Riflemen & muster rolls of Morgan's company, when he was a captain, of the 1st regiment of the Illinois Foot Volunteers. Morgan was a Lieut. Colonel of 10th Illinois Infantry durning the Civil War. The collection includes a brief biography of Morgan and correspondence, orders, Civil War maps and journals of the Civil War movements of Morgan's troops. Morgan was involved in the Mormon War as a military poiceman in Hancock County. Though born in Boston, Mass., he was a long-time resident of Quincy, Illinois.
