The earliest known Hankins in Virginia was William Hankins, who received head rights in 1662 and 1665 in Kingston Parish, Gloucester Co., Va. Ancestry of Don Rich Hankins (1860-1938), son of Robert W. Hankins originally of Tennessee and Sara S. Albright originally of North Carolina. He was born in Drew Co., Ark. He married 1888 Agnes Mayo Taylor (1867-1923), daughter of Dr. Henry Skipwith Taylor and Jane Eliza Mayo both originally of North Carolina. Anges was born in Fayette Co., Tennessee. Ancestry of James Harper Canter (1851-1935), son of Wilson Cage Canter of Tennessee and Mary B. Harper. James was born in Drew Co., Ark. He married 1882 Lavinia America O'Fallin (1865-1931), daughter of Andrew O'Fallin of Ireland and Mary Jane Chester of South Carolina.

Includes Hankins and allied families of Albright, Mayo, Canter, Taylor, Henderson, O'Fallin, etc.
