Microfilm of originals in the Lamar County courthouse in Vernon, Alabama.
This county was created 04 Feb. 1867 and named Jones County. Nine months later, 13 Nov. 1867, it was abolished. On 8 Oct. 1868 if was re-established as Sanford County. The name was changed to Lamar on 8 Feb 1877.
