Notes

Joseph Ramage was born in the mid 1700s in Pennsylvania and migrated to South Carolina at a young age. He served as a captain during the Revolutionary War. He and his wife, Elizabeth, had ten children, 1780-after 1796. He died in 1825 in Laurens County, South Carolina and is buried in the cemetery at Duncan's Creek Presbyterian Church. His widow made her home with their son, John, and his family in Newberry County, South Carolina. She died there in 1827 and is buried in the Ramage-Shepherd Cemetery in Newberry County.
