Probate records were kept in Hooker, Oklahoma at the same time a record was being kept in Guymon, Oklahoma the county seat. This continued until about 1968 when all records were moved to Guymon. The appearance docket serves as the index for the probate minutes and probate record. Some of the early cases are not recorded in the books, but can be found in the Probate case "Files" or packets which are in the area of the District Court Clerk in the courthouse.

Index cards give information on book, page, and case number. The book refers to Appearance Docket Probate books and the page that the case is found on. The case number refers to the file or packet number. After obtaining the page where the case is found in the docket book the document can be found by refering to the book and page it is recorded in the Probate Record book. Cards are filed first letter of last name of the administrator, executor, or guardian, also first letter last name of the estate.
